Chaos to Curtain: A Two-Day Youth Theatre Challenge! In-Person
Ever wondered what it takes to create a play from scratch? Join the Airdrie Public Library and the Nose Creek Players for an exciting two-day theatrical adventure for youth ages 13-18 where creativity, collaboration, and community come together.
During this immersive experience, participants will work alongside local theatre artists and mentors to imagine, write, rehearse, and perform an original play—all in one weekend!
The journey begins with fun creative storytelling activities inspired by Airdrie's history, landmarks, and community stories. Together, participants will build the foundation of their production before exploring acting, script writing, costume and prop design, stage management, lighting, sound, and set creation. Whether you're a seasoned performer or trying theatre for the first time, there's a place for everyone behind the scenes or on stage.
Throughout the weekend, experienced mentors from the Nose Creek Players will guide participants through every step of the creative process, helping them develop storytelling skills, confidence, teamwork, and artistic expression in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The experience culminates in a free public performance on Sunday afternoon, where family, friends, and community members are invited to witness the incredible results of a play created, rehearsed, and staged in less than 24 hours. The fast-paced nature of the project often leads to unexpected moments, spontaneous humour, and unforgettable performances that celebrate the imagination and talent of Airdrie's youth.
