Stories We Share, Imagination We Build: An Oral Storytelling Workshop In-Person

Children love to hear a good story, especially when told by those who love them best. There’s a
special connection that happens when adults and children co-create a timeless tale; their
imaginations breathe life into our words. This creative process also builds strong literacy skiIls. In
this workshop, we will listen to stories. We will talk about stories. We will practice storytelling.
And we will build confidence to tell short Aesop fables, like The Tortoise and the Hare. No book
needed! We will also make story props to help us tell our new stories in different ways to young
listeners.

Ginger Mullen’s love of storytelling began at Lethbridge Public Library, when she was hired for the
Storytellers-at-Large program. This sparked a lifelong passion that led to a Master of Arts in
Children’s Literature and a variety of teaching opportunities, including Mount Royal University. She
continues to work with early childhood professionals as a Program Coach with Providence Inclusive
Child Care. She currently tells stories as a member of Storytelling Alberta and leads interactive
workshops as part of The Gingerbread Way, a program she designed to promote storytelling for
children.
