1pm: Two documentaries celebrating the strength and bravery of Canadian Women (45 minutes each) produced and directed by an Airdrie resident.
NURSES on the BATTLEFIELD
It was amid the casualties, confusion, and the bloody war of World War II that thousands of Canadian Nurses came together. Nurses on the Battlefield is their story. It is told by the women who wore their uniforms with pride and now gather for a final reunion in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
EYEWITNESS to WAR
It was a time of conflict—a time of tyrants and upheaval. For five years, Glayds Arnold watched and wrote of a war she knew was coming but others denied. In 1935, she was a Canadian reporter in France. Sure, of two things, her objectivity and pacifism. Within those years, Glayds Arnold was transformed into an impassioned activist. Helping lead Canadians into support for de Gaulle and his Free French. Glady’s story is a battle for ideas. It is a tale of Eyewitness to War.
