Checkmate in Fusion 360 In-Person
Curious about 3D design and modeling? Start your journey with Checkmate in Fusion 360, an introductory program where we’ll learn the basics of Autodesk Fusion 360 by designing an entire set of chess pieces.
Led by a tech expert, this session will cover:
- An overview of Fusion 360 and its key features
- Introduction to the Fusion 360 interface and essential tools
- Understanding basic design principles for 3D modeling
- Step-by-step creation of chess pieces using parametric design
- Tips for exporting files for 3D printing
Participants are encouraged to bring their own computer with Fusion 360 installed, as well as a mouse for easier navigation. Bringing your own device allows you to continue practicing at home after the session.
Fusion 360 Requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit) or macOS 11 Big Sur and newer
- Minimum Specs: 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), 3 GB storage, DirectX 11-capable graphics
- Internet connection for installation and cloud-based features
Fusion 360 is free for personal use and students; download it from Autodesk’s website: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal.
Library laptops with Fusion 360 will be available for those who cannot bring their own device.
This hands-on session builds the foundation for confident and creative use of Fusion 360 for personal or professional projects.
